I've sort of hidden this page a little, because I don't have enough lilac to make many of these shuttles. This is lilac from a rather overgrown lilac bush in my back yard that we pruned this past spring. I sliced it up thin on the band saw and let it dry for a while. Lilac looks a lot like maple or cherry, only it's almost a pink when fresh. It mellows to a neutral light brown. I have no data on the strength or springiness of lilac, but again, it feels a lot like cherry. I can't make it any bigger than 2-3/4 inches. Check with me by e-mail before you order one. As of late February, I have some lilac left, but it doesn't have much heartwood. I do have some honeylocust I mean to try though:
