Sycamore is a confusing name for a wood. This is not the Sycamore tree with the scaly bark that lives in the Eastern United States, but a European wood. But over there it's called Maple? I'm not sure exactly which wood name it lives under in William Lincoln's book, so I'm not going to quote properties. This Sycamore is light in color, almost like our maple. It looks much better in person than in a scan or photo, in this scan you can barely see the very pronounced ripple that changes with the viewing angle. I think it is very pretty, and it makes a nice working shuttle as well.
